The Outdoors Can Be Painful…….

Info

….if it is, in fact, the outdoors that caused it at all.

Last weekend was not a good one for me.  Jeff, Matt, and Justin all got to do a little fishing, while I stayed at home and nursed a skin infection.

I’m not sure how it happened, and I will probably never know what caused it for sure, but somehow I managed to get into something – or bit by something – that gave me a nice case of cellulitis.  And I’m not talking about the wrinkly fat areas; I’m talking about a skin infection.

And, if that weren’t enough, on top of that the doctor seems to think I’m having an allergic reaction to it as well.  So the last few nights I’ve spent in the emergency room getting antibiotics through an IV, as well as taking them orally too.  Fun, fun.  Not really!

I honestly don’t know how it happened.  And, despite all the nurses and doctor’s notions that I run around outside in my bare feet, and that is how I got this infection and reaction, it isn’t the case.  I’m not sure where it came from.  Maybe from a spider in my own house – who knows – but regardless, running a 103 fever is no fun.

Hopefully now, though, it’s on the mend, and in the next few days I can return to “normal”.  Turkey season is right around the corner, and I’m looking forward to better and brighter things besides sitting in the local hospital ER.

Thank God that, tonight anyway, I had a TV in my room.

  • Ouch! That sounds awfully unpleasant. Hope you feel better soon!

  • Tell those doctors and nurses that running around outside a lot – barefoot or otherwise – is what keeps you healthy! It’s the ridiculous push to sterilize everything we touch that’s causing the problems.

  • Holy Crap! Dude!

    That’s crazy. Get well soon!

  • Man when you said you didn’t feel good you weren’t lying! Hope you feel better!!!

  • Oh Arthur – you have my sympathy. I had cellulitis a few years ago from an allergic reaction to a bee sting – talk about not fun, I know all about not fun.

Just a hint though – my old, old, retired now doctor prescribed warm epson salt wraps every-other hour because the infection wasn’t clearing up and within two days I was on the mend – very, very much improved! If you want directions email me.

  • Thanks, Jenn. It’s steadily getting better, and I have a follow-up doctor’s appointment tomorrow. If it doesn’t get better before the weekend, I might be emailing you.

  • Oh, that does not sound like fun at all. I hope you are on the mend!

  • 103 with the skin infection? Wow, Thats got some teeth in it. Fish can wait – that needs taking care of.
