I’ve been doing really well up to this point. But as I sat down last night, as well as this morning, and tried to put some thoughts together for a blog post, I realized that my brain has already started to switch over to “vacation mode”. I can’t even put a few measly thoughts together. Well, maybe I just did…..but you get the idea.
Starting this Saturday, I will be on vacation for two whole weeks, and I am definitely looking forward to it. It will allow me to spend some time with my wife, and it will also allow me to spend some good quality time with Abby (my daughter). I normally feel like I only get to see her for a few hours a day, so to be able to spend two weeks straight with her is going to be awesome.
It will also allow for some time to hunt. To be honest, though, I’m not guaranteeing anything. Depending on the weather, and especially the wind chill, I might just stay inside, hang out with Abby, watch some football, and eat a few cupcakes (like Jody).
If everything works out right, though, and I decide to be a little adventurous, I might spend a few hours in a treestand; a few hours chasing after some rabbits; or a few hours in a ice shanty (one of my friends seems to think he is taking me ice fishing. I told him I will only go if a truck can be driven on the ice. Ice fishing is not for me.)
At this point, I just don’t want to commit to anything. I want to kick back, enjoy the freedom to do whatever I want, or to do nothing, and love every minute of it.
Any ideas what little Abby and I should do while mommy’s at work? Ahh, if only she were walking.

Isn’t nice not having any plans at all and doing what you want when you want? Love it.
You could always take her shopping. Is she too little to go for a sled ride?
Have fun whatever you do!
She’ll be walking before you know it Arthur! Just wait… whenever I leave Sugar with Hubby they watch short hunting videos on the computer
That is wonderful that you are going to get some time to spend with Abby and your wife in the next two weeks. Have a great time setting your own schedule!
Enjoy that break and all your Abby time. Whatever you do with her, just get lots of pictures!
Thats the best kind of vacation – one with out commitments.
My thoughts and sentiments exactly Art. Two weeks off to build family memories, and Abby will appreciate looking at the “pictures” when she’s older. Have a great time and Merry Christmas.
