I’ve been fighting a bad cold, or something of that nature, since last Tuesday. Because of that I honestly haven’t ventured into the woods in over a week. With Thanksgiving, and all the holiday activities that come from that, and especially since I’ve been battling this whatever it is, I stayed inside and watched football.
Just because I was inside, though, doesn’t mean that all of the family was stuck indoors. Jeff managed to hunt quite a few times; and my Uncle and cousin both killed their first deer of the season. I wish I had pictures to share, but apparently they haven’t gotten around to sending any to me yet, so you’ll just have to wait to see those.
Overall the weather hasn’t been that great – it rained quite a bit over the weekend – but this week is starting to look very promising. We are actually going to have snow flurries this week, and maybe even a little accumulation towards the end of the week, so you never know what could happen this weekend. This is the first real cold snap we’ve had, and it could really get the deer on the move.
Muzzleloading starts Dec. 4th in our area as well, so I’m sure Jeff and a few of the others will get in on the muzzleloading action. I will definitely be taking my bow out a couple more times, and I might even manage to borrow a muzzleloader as well.
I’ve been a little out of the outdoor loop the last few days, but I am far from ready to be done with this year’s season. We still have a good month left, and we’ll be trying our hardest to put some more deer on the ground, especially a nice buck.

Good luck! And hope you start feeling better soon. So far I’ve avoided the cold everyone seems to have had around me. A few times I thought for sure I was getting it but by the next day I was fine.
Feel better and good luck!
