img_4229Last week, while Jeff was out fishing, and Phillip was (and still is) in Texas, I had to actually work for a living.  I had a work conference from Wednesday through Friday, so needless to say that getting outside wasn’t high on my priority list.

Oh, whoops.  Did I forget to mention that the work conference was in Orlando, Florida?  I guess that was my fault.  I need to start over I guess, and actually talk about what really happened last week.

I did attend a work conference in Orlando, but thankfully those work conferences do end at 4 in the afternoon, so it left us with two nights to enjoy some local Orlando attractions.

Work paid for my way, of course, so I decided to take the rest of the family as well.  The wife and Abby had a great time hanging out at the Beuna Vista Palace during the day, and, at night when I got done with conference sessions, we headed across the street to Disney Downtown one night; and visited Disney World the next night.

img_4183The weather was in the mid-80′s, and we were loving every minute of that -  especially since last night it got down below freezing here in good ole Michigan.  We had a great time, and I can honestly tell all of you that we didn’t waste a single minute of the time we were there.  I know Abby won’t remember any of it, but her mom and I sure enjoyed every second of the trip.

As of this writing I am officially caught back up on my blog reading, and almost feel like I’m back in the swing of things after being away from the computer for 3 or 4 days.  Jeff did a nice job in my absence, though, and made sure that all of you still had something to read while I was gone.

Jeff and I also have a steelheading trip planned for next week, and turkey hunting is right around the corner.  The temps in Florida were nice, but I can’t wait to sit in the Michigan woods in the 40 degree temps, or cast a line and have to clean the ice from the eyelets of my fly rod – good ole home sweet home.

It feels good to be back, but if I’m being honest – I miss those 80 degree temps…….a little bit.

On a side note:  Go Green.  Go White!  Our Spartans are headed to the final four baby!!!

  • Sounds like a nice break!

The green and white have totally messed with my bracket. It was kind of sick anyway, but I do have ucon taking the final.

  • It is nice when those work conferences take you somewhere nice to visit! I spent a week in Boston in the middle of winter once by myself for a work conference. A few of my co-workers had gone during the summer. Needless to say – they had a better time than I did! For me, by the time the conference was over every day it was dark already and it was cold and I was by myself so instead of getting to do some sightseeing I went out to eat with people I met at the conference and then went to the hotel to read until it was time to sleep.

  • What a perfect time to be in Florida. This winter seems like it wants to drag on.

Glad to hear you were able to bring the family and you had a good time.

  • Sounds like a great trip, but I gotta’ pull for the ACC. Go Tarheels!

  • Go Tarheels!

WHAT!! ART PULL THAT POST!!! LOL

  • Sounds like a rough trip, Arthur. Don’t know how you stood it.

I’ve got pretty ambivalent overall feelings about the land of the mighty Mouse, but there will always be a soft spot down deep from some of the great times I had there as a kid.
