Huntin’ Time Expo/My Lack of Posts
It's absolutely no secret that I've been neglectful of this blog lately. Some evidence: I never posted a few of the deer that Justin shot. I didn't post anything about Jeff, Barry, Erin, and Josh heading down to the ATA show in Columbus a little over a week ago. And I've never posted anything about the fact that SimplyOutdoors TV will be airing on the Pursuit Channel starting in January 2...
End of Deer Season: Maybe I Stink
Last night I cleaned my muzzleloader.  And though I usually love the feeling that comes with cleaning any firearm, last night's cleaning kind of depressed me a little, because it was a sure sign that another deer season had passed and that I had once again went through an entire season without putting any venison in the freezer. As I was cleaning and reflecting back on the last couple of seaso...
Bittersweet Hunt: The Rest of the Story
In my previous post, I eluded to the fact that my miss last Sunday morning was only the beginning of a very memorable morning.  Here is the "rest of the story". After my miss, it was still only a little after 8am, so Jeff and I decided that we might as well stick it out for a little while and see if any other deer decided they wanted to eat out of his food plot. And that is when the weirdne...
Bittersweet Hunt
Though I had only been able to hunt a handful of times, the fact remained that I hadn't laid eyes on a deer since around October 8th.  It was making it pretty difficult to head into the woods, because I honestly wasn't sure if I was ever going to see a deer again; I was starting to wonder if I had a deer whistle permanently embedded within my body that was preventing them from coming within a hal...
Another Deer for Jeff
While I don't have much to celebrate when it comes to deer hunting, after tonight I can bask in at least one thing:  that I told Jeff about Hornady SST's, and that, because of my wisdom, Jeff was able to put down this big doe without fear of his bullet coming apart. Congrats to Jeff.  Welcome to the dark side, and say goodbye to Powerbelts.

SNOW!!!

Posted By: Arthur on December 17, 2008 in Ramblings - Comments: 8 Comments »

We had about 4 to 5 inches last night, and it looks like more is on the way.

There is a Winter Storm Watch for our area, starting tomorrow, and heading right through Friday.  They’re saying 6 to 12 inches of snow possible, and if we don’t get snow we’ll get ice accumulations.  Yippee!

I think that pretty much means I will be shoveling the next couple of days, instead of doing anything fun.  Jeff and I thought about hunting this weekend, but that might not happen unless we purchase snow shoes.

Man I love winter!

I know what you are saying…We got around 5 inches of snow yesterday. The next weather system to start on Thursday evening is supposed to lay a 1/4 inch or more of ice on us before the measurable snow. Then wind coming later Friday to whip those wires. Can we say power outage? Let’s hope not! ;)

    Safety to you and your’s.

  2. The snow and soon to be ice storm is preventing my hunter from hunting for the next few days.

    Winter is here.

I’d love to get 12 inches of snow… next week while hubby is off work and after my family has arrived!

This is Michigan- you never get board by the wather. One minute it’s freezing then the next it’s sunny & 70!

Man it’s in the upper sixties here, not to rub it in or anything. Actually I wish it was colder, the deer don’t seem to move to well in this warm weather. Arthur check out my new site if you get a chance at http://www.foggybottomoutdoors.com I appreciate it,Adam

  7. We had three feet of snow and then it dumped another two feet last night. My arms are still aching from shoveling. The good news is that the lakes are all frozen over and I can ice fishing. The bad news is that the weather forecast has more snow in store for us. The only highway that connects us with big city civilization has been closed until further notice.

Winter has come very early here. That much for Global warming!!!

Please keep the show up there, but go ahead and send the cold weather. The deer aren’t moving at all in these spring temps…
