Blogging: It really does take dedication
This is the 426th post on this blog. I’m not sharing that information to gloat, I’m just sharing it to show how many posts have been written on this blog in a little over a year’s time. It is pretty amazing if you think about it.
All of you know, that just recently I recruited help, and asked Jeff and Matt to help contribute to the blog. Of course they jumped at the opportunity, but in the last week we have only seen one post a piece from them. I’m not seeing that much dedication boys.
Matt confirmed his feelings to me on the phone tonight. He pretty much told me that he didn’t know how I wrote a post every weekday for so long. His personal goal right now is to write one post a week. Well, in case Matt and Jeff haven’t noticed, I’ve been writing – on average – five posts a week for quite some time now. Hmm, I write five posts a week for a year and a half, you guys decide to help, and in a week’s time I get 2 posts and a promise to write one a week. That is interesting.
I guess what I’m trying to say here – and no I’m not just picking on Jeff and Matt – is that blogging really does take some dedication. And while I do enjoy writing for this site, there have certainly been times when coming up with a post was a chore. All of you who blog know what I’m talking about. In order to keep fresh content on the site it does take a lot of work.
And while I love that Jeff and Matt are helping, I think they have definitely developed a new appreciation for what it takes to get a blog off the ground and keep it running.
I think all of us bloggers are really dedicated to our outdoor pursuits. And all of us, not only deserve to brag about that every once in awhile, but also deserve the breaks we do take……….even if our backup bloggers only produce one post a week:)

Like I told you from the start…I’M PRO-STAFF!!!! I’m not a writer!! If I was I wouldn’t play music for a living!! I hunt you write about it!

I hear you! I’m glad that I decided way back at the beginning of November that I was going to pretty much take a break this month. I’ve needed it! (And since I knew ahead of time, I’m still publishing every day!
Blogging is tough, but it’s worth it. The thing to remember is that you can take a break when you like and people will understand.
Everyone needs a break now and then.
WOW – That is a really admirable accomplishment. With a full time J.O.B., and kids, and hunting, and The Wife, and everything else I struggle to get get a post a week let along a post a day! Way to go, always enjoy reading your posts.
Jeff did hit the nail on the head. We spend our free time in the field, not writing about it! Lol…maybe that’s why jeff has three deer this year!…seriously though, I don’t know how u did five a week. I don’t think I could be that dedicated with all the other things going on in my life.
Congratulations on your 426th post. As mention quite rightly is a chore, an enjoyable chore, but it needs dedication and a commitment to keep it going. Writing four blogs myself I know exactly what you’re talking about. There are times one has to take a break to regroup.

I know what you mean about finding things to write about. You’ve seen how much I write- or how much you write on your personal blog.

It can be hard to come up with content everday. I have been up until 3:00a.m. trying to finish a post that I struggled to come up with and finish. Sometimes you just have to take a break for a while.
Prostaff schmostaff! Suck it up boys and help him out!!! Just kidding, it does take a serious committment! I’ve been blogging for almost a year and it is quite the task. My hat off to ya Art, I truly feel your pain, I too sometimes get a writer’s block and struggle to write. So boys help him out and lets here from ya!!!
Wah wah:(. Just do less posts. Quality over quantity!Only write posts about YOUR experiences.(Then you wouldn’t have to write as many posts) If ppl expect u to write a post a day, then they need to get a life.don’t count on those lazy bums. If you want something done your probably gonna have to do it yourself!
