Writing Break

images.jpgIn case you haven’t noticed, I haven’t been posting as frequently as I usually do.  Why, you ask?  Well, it appears that not only have I been lacking in deer killing ability, but for some reason, I have also been lacking in writing ability.  I think I have writer’s block.

I didn’t think this could ever happen to me, but at times lately, it has almost been painful for me to come up with things to write about.  I’m not upset about that, but it kind of worries me, considering I’m the main writer for this site.

In that spirit, and as I’m sure some of you have seen in a few posts, Jeff is actually going to write a few posts.  He has been sitting back this whole time – letting me do all the work – but now he is officially coming out of his shell and writing.  My cousin, Matt, is also going to be contributing occasionally as well.

Although I am somewhat apprehension about letting other people write for the blog (I’m a control freak about this stuff), I think both of their perspectives will be a good change for the blog:  Jeff can share a few of his crazy hunting stories (like the deer that ran him over), and Matt can share some of his experiences hunting near the Lowcountry.

So, I’m not going anywhere, and you will still see me writing.  But, at this point, it won’t be as much as it used to be.   And don’t worry, I will be commenting as usual; just because I can’t think of things to write, doesn’t mean I won’t be reading everyone elses posts.

  • I felt that way last week.

I will still show up here each morning and see what all the guys have to say. Maybe your wife should write a guest post as well.

  • Alright, Arthur. Let some other folks shoulder some of the load, man. Good for you – and I think it’s good to have other perspectives and what not. I look forward to more from Jeff and look forward to reading about Matt’s adventures, too – and when you get your writer’s block unblocked (eh?) we’ll be right here.

  • I think a writing break is the best cure for writer’s block! You’ve got a lot of newness going on in your life right now… take time to enjoy it!

  • Don’t you have to be a writer to have writers block??

  • Me thinks the reason you have writers block is because of your severe case of “deer block”. Maybe you could write a “What Not To Do Deer Hunting” series? :)

  • I think everyone goes through times like this. This has also been a big year for you. Take some time to relax and absorb everything that’s happened. I think adding some other perspectives to the blog will be a good thing. It will certainly take a bit of the pressure off you.

  • I know how you feel Arthur,it happens.

  • Don’t worry Arthur these things happen to all of us from time to time but when you finally get totally relaxed ( possibly in the woods one quite morning ) you’ll come up with a few ideas and then you’ll be back on top of things and going strong again. I sometimes get ideas just from reading other blogs and browsing the web.Hang in there it will happen for you again.

  • Taking time out might be just what you need. Topics will start popping up right and left in all of the experiences you get to go through.
For now enjoy the break. That will be fun too…;)

  • Take a break and relax for a bit. It will all come back to you. Sometimes we just need to step back and say HEY.

  • I haven’t gotten my deer yet so I have a new muzzle loader to give me an extra week. I’ve intentionally not written much in my blog about hunting – it would be a one-woman comedy show if I told too much.

As for writer’s block – I have a newspaper column due by 5 pm and here I am writing a note in your blog…
