I'm with you and several others - my first memories are fishing trips mostly. I have an uncanny memory and remember things when I was really young. I remember many fishing trips to Bully Creek and Little Field Reservoirs as a youngster of about 5. Such good memories! Of course, we always wanted Mom to fry up ANYTHING we caught - including a bass I caught once that was maybe 4 inches long. My poor mother...what a good mom she is!

Arthur - My earliest memories have to do with fishing, of course. One of my original trips was with a bunch of family members. I followed my uncle. I really had no clue. The creek we were fishing you could literally straddle. This creek was loaded with little Brook trout. I was amazed how my uncle just dropped a little worm and split shot straight down into the water and fish after fish came to shore. I don't think I did much catching. I was just so thrilled to see a "fish out of water". I have learned a lot since then.

Would you consider adding a link to my new blog. I have yours up on my blog as you probably know.
Thanks, Mel

My earliest outdoor memory would have been when I was about 6 years old. My dad and a buddy of his who was serving in the military overseas worked out an arrangement where we got to live in the buddy's house in the middle of a pine forest (I don't know if it was 10 acres or 50 but all of the houses out there were in the middle of a pine forest). One day I was out playing in the woods and got lost, I ended up on the highway and one of the neighbors helped me get home. Then 20 years later I'm deer hunting with my husband in the woods and he tells me to lead us back to the truck and wouldn't listen when I told him I didn't have a clue how to get back to the truck until it finally dawned on him that we were hopelessly lost. After we wandered around for another hour or two we stumbled across some guys out camping and hunting and they took us back to our truck - 5 miles away, I guess some things never change :)

I remember Jeff always coming back to get me help him track his deer when I was younger! I loved that, I always found blood when he couldnt! And also going out back behind the house on cochran and going squirrel hunting or just going out there with both of you I always tagged along! Man those were the days...also with fishing I remember catching my first bass right out here on Duck Lake with you, Jeff and DJ. =)

My earliest outdoor memories involve either fishing or camping. I was a Girl Scout, so I remember going on camping trips. One that particularly sticks out was a trip where we thought we'd be brave and sleep out under the stars. I thought I saw a raccoon by one of the tents and I threw a rock at it. Turned out it was a skunk. Luckily, I don't have good aim, and Mr. Skunk didn't spray us.

I will answer this for my husband. He has many memories of being outdoors hunting and fishing with his Dad and brothers. His Dad has passed but my hunter still enjoys hunting with his 3 brothers. They've done it for over 30 years together. I know he will always hold the memory of hunting his first deer with his Dad.

Getting to follow along behind my dad pheasant hunting, and wearing a game vest. I was so proud to carry a bird my dad shot even though it was dragging the ground. I was 7-8 years old. Congratulations on your baby girl Abby and also your anniversary. Hopefully you'll be able to get in a few days during the "rut!"
