Huntin’ Time Expo/My Lack of Posts
It's absolutely no secret that I've been neglectful of this blog lately. Some evidence: I never posted a few of the deer that Justin shot. I didn't post anything about Jeff, Barry, Erin, and Josh heading down to the ATA show in Columbus a little over a week ago. And I've never posted anything about the fact that SimplyOutdoors TV will be airing on the Pursuit Channel starting in January 2...
End of Deer Season: Maybe I Stink
Last night I cleaned my muzzleloader.  And though I usually love the feeling that comes with cleaning any firearm, last night's cleaning kind of depressed me a little, because it was a sure sign that another deer season had passed and that I had once again went through an entire season without putting any venison in the freezer. As I was cleaning and reflecting back on the last couple of seaso...
Bittersweet Hunt: The Rest of the Story
In my previous post, I eluded to the fact that my miss last Sunday morning was only the beginning of a very memorable morning.  Here is the "rest of the story". After my miss, it was still only a little after 8am, so Jeff and I decided that we might as well stick it out for a little while and see if any other deer decided they wanted to eat out of his food plot. And that is when the weirdne...
Bittersweet Hunt
Though I had only been able to hunt a handful of times, the fact remained that I hadn't laid eyes on a deer since around October 8th.  It was making it pretty difficult to head into the woods, because I honestly wasn't sure if I was ever going to see a deer again; I was starting to wonder if I had a deer whistle permanently embedded within my body that was preventing them from coming within a hal...
Another Deer for Jeff
While I don't have much to celebrate when it comes to deer hunting, after tonight I can bask in at least one thing:  that I told Jeff about Hornady SST's, and that, because of my wisdom, Jeff was able to put down this big doe without fear of his bullet coming apart. Congrats to Jeff.  Welcome to the dark side, and say goodbye to Powerbelts.

Homecoming!

img_2829.jpgThe monkeys were finally let out of the cage last night.  Once we got the test results back, and the nurse let us know that her bilirubin (jaundice) levels were where they wanted them, we busted out the door and never looked back.

I have to say that this whole not really being able to sleep thing is not all it’s cracked up to be.  Everyone warns you about it, but I don’t think anything ever really prepares you for it.  We love every minute of it though.  And we couldn’t think of anything else we would want to keep us up all night.

img_2832.jpgWhen we arrived home last night an instant love affair started as well.  Brock, the SimplyOutdoors mascot, had an instant infatuation with gorgeous little Abigail.  We has been by her side ever since:  during feedings, when she is sleeping, when she is getting her diaper changed, when she is crying.  He adores her and we are happy about that.  He actually adores her so much that sometimes it is almost annoying.  A baby can only take so much dog tongue.

We are home.  We are adjusting.

It is great to be out of that hospital.

It sounds like Brock and Abigail will get along about as good as Drake and Lil Sugar do – you can’t ask for more… except maybe that Abigail will say “Dada” before she says “Brock”

Oh and I agree that not getting any sleep thing is for the birds, unfortunately it doesn’t go away very fast.

  2. Those pictures are too cute. I’m so glad the whole family is home.

Very sweet and adorable. Congrats all around!

  8. Jen says:

Those pictures are so cute! They will be great in her baby book too! At least you know Brock will be protective of Abby, that’s a good thing.
Enjoy every minute of it, they grow up fast!

  9. Jeff says:

Glad Jen and Abby are home and doing great! Beautiful pictures too…
And our rat terrier was the exact same way when we brought our boys home. They are pack animals and definitely seem to know that the baby is a very important part of that pack now. You can do anything to the dog and he will tolerate it, but do NOT mess with “his” babies – or he will bite!

I think she looks quite a bit like me as a baby! ;) ;) Hey we both looked a lot alike! =) Shes adorable!!!

  11. [...] Congrats to Arthur and his wife for the new arrival of little Abigail – She’s adorable in her pink! [...]

  12. Look at all her hair!!! She is a cutie and I love all the pink with froggies.
