Thanks for all the comments folks. He is currently running into a minor problem with the project, but one that I'm sure can be solved.

He is very determined so I have no doubt that one day this place will exist. Thanks for all the comments though, and Kristine, I might just take you up on that offer at some point.

Sounds like a very worthwhile project. However make sure and keep an open mind about how to accomplish the goals. Owning hunting land, managing and fixing the land up right is a lot of work and takes a lot of money.
Like Jody said, you could hold fundraisers as well as work with city/county organizations to raise money for this. You could then just purchase hunts from local outfitters (bulk discount) or just lease land for the hunts instead of purchasing it.

I think that's a great idea - sounds like something that'd be good to start out here in Idaho, too! Inspiring - I love ideas....especially good ones! They inspire us and force us to use our brain for a little while.

This sounds like a great idea - I hope everything works out for the gentleman working on making it happen. Worthwhile projects that succeed usually do so because of a lot of work, dedication and support!

I think this is a wonderful idea. I think one way that Michigan bloggers can help is to do what you did, write about what he's trying to do. You never know who may be reading. We could also take it to to the OBS and ask all our supporting members to write about the project. You never know what big companies might get on board.

If the project needs Marketing help, let me know. I'd be happy to donate some time.

What a wonderful idea and an amazing guy he sounds like. It is nice that you are also trying to help out.

I just posted about how a few of our local city offices, clubs and local fishing shop sponsor events in our area. You might try places like that. Maybe he could even hold a fund raising event and contact local businesses for donations.

I hope it all works out and make sure to keep us posted.
