Camping-The first trip of the year!
Last weekend we went on our first official camping trip of the season. It went pretty well, and everyone had a pretty good time. Everyone got in on the action, even the dogs!
My wife’s family and I all headed down to Pokagon State Park in Indiana. It is just across the state line and only about an hour drive for us. We went to the park last year for one of our Christmas dinners, and decided that coming back there, and camping in the spring, would be fun. We even managed to get all of the wife’s mom’s side of the family together. Four camping spots and about 15 people later we were all unpacked and ready to go.
We did what everyone does camping–we ate! I mean we ate a lot. From steaks, to homemade mac and cheese, to full homemade breakfasts of pancakes, eggs, and the works. In case some of you
don’t know–camping is not about being hungry, it is just about eating. We definitely covered that.
The trip was good all the way around and everyone enjoyed themselves. A good way to get outdoors and start the warmer season off right.
It even rained and we managed to not get wet! Perfect!

Sounds like a great trip - hopefully we’ll get to go out sometime soon! Right now my husband is just working too many hours…
I hope I don’t shock anyone but I’ve never been camping. lol Maybe one day. Hahahaha
Sounds like a good time. Camping always does seem to bring out the food for some reason. Even if you haven’t done anything more strenuous than set up camp, there always seems to be reason to eat.
Man, that sounds like a lot of fun. I can’t wait for our boys to get old enough to camp. We are already planning some trips out and all of the things we will do.
That’s great - camping is the best! We’re heading out this weekend for the first camping trip of the year…hopefully there won’t be too many other people out on memorial day weekend!
We are planning on going camping this weekend for the first time this year, and it looks like it is supposed to rain all weekend. Hopefully we will have the same fortune as you and not get wet. We have had a crazy winter and spring out here in Utah. It snowed at elevations over 6,000 feet yesterday.
The food sounds womderful, but the only way I would go camping would be in a camper or a “BIG RV.” I tried the tent stuff..just not my way to camp.
I am ashamed to say it but I have never gone camping. I sure would like to try it someday though. It looks like a lot of fun and relaxing, lord knows I need that.

First to Jeff: I don’t think you have to be “old enough” to go camping, we had a 6 month old in our group.
Second to CDGardens- Arthur didn’t show all of the camp sites, we had the two tents you see in the picture, the pop-up you see in the first, picture big, (I don’t remember how big, at least 29 ft.) trailer and a 34 foot mini motor home. I used to go in a tent, but I think I am getting too old to sleep on the ground even with an air mattress. - We did have a great time
