Sausage Anyone?
My sister’s boyfriend, Justin, who’ve you’ve all met before, went down last week and tried his hand at some hog hunting. I will have to say that it went pretty well for him. I don’t know the name of the lodge that they went to, but I do know that it was in Tennessee and that they had a good time.
Justin was skilled enough to shoot this nice hog at about 10yds. They had the option of taking guides, but decided to go it alone, and it paid off for him. They didn’t have scales, but I thought that the hog looked like a pretty good one, and for Justin to put a stalk on it is pretty cool. There is also a video of Justin putting the hurt on him, but we have to figure out if we can get it uploaded onto the computer or not. Hopefully they figure it out, because some footage would be very cool.
The pig ran off after Justin’s perfect shot, and they are such tough little guys that he had to sneak up on it again and put another arrow through him before he would finally expire.
It sounds like a great time though and everyone is talking about going in February again. Who knows, I might even tag along on that one. It sounds like a good time.
Congrats Justin–I’m sure it will make Phillip and Jeff proud.
UPDATE: Justin just sent me an update to this story. They shot this pig at the Wilderness Lodge in Monterey, TN. The pig they figured was right around 300lbs. Now you know the rest of the story!

My husband is thinking about hunting some of the hogs we have around here – some of his uncles hunt them and they say that they are good!

Wild pork is great meat, to those who haven’t tried it. Not fatty like domestic, of course, but still very tasty.
Awesome pig! I’ve never hog hunted before, but it looks like it could be fun!
Done that myself many years ago, and we had a blast! Boar can be just plain mean, and it’s quite a rush taking one with a bow. Congrats to Justin.
