Huntin’ Time Expo/My Lack of Posts
It's absolutely no secret that I've been neglectful of this blog lately. Some evidence: I never posted a few of the deer that Justin shot. I didn't post anything about Jeff, Barry, Erin, and Josh heading down to the ATA show in Columbus a little over a week ago. And I've never posted anything about the fact that SimplyOutdoors TV will be airing on the Pursuit Channel starting in January 2...
End of Deer Season: Maybe I Stink
Last night I cleaned my muzzleloader.  And though I usually love the feeling that comes with cleaning any firearm, last night's cleaning kind of depressed me a little, because it was a sure sign that another deer season had passed and that I had once again went through an entire season without putting any venison in the freezer. As I was cleaning and reflecting back on the last couple of seaso...
Bittersweet Hunt: The Rest of the Story
In my previous post, I eluded to the fact that my miss last Sunday morning was only the beginning of a very memorable morning.  Here is the "rest of the story". After my miss, it was still only a little after 8am, so Jeff and I decided that we might as well stick it out for a little while and see if any other deer decided they wanted to eat out of his food plot. And that is when the weirdne...
Bittersweet Hunt
Though I had only been able to hunt a handful of times, the fact remained that I hadn't laid eyes on a deer since around October 8th.  It was making it pretty difficult to head into the woods, because I honestly wasn't sure if I was ever going to see a deer again; I was starting to wonder if I had a deer whistle permanently embedded within my body that was preventing them from coming within a hal...
Another Deer for Jeff
While I don't have much to celebrate when it comes to deer hunting, after tonight I can bask in at least one thing:  that I told Jeff about Hornady SST's, and that, because of my wisdom, Jeff was able to put down this big doe without fear of his bullet coming apart. Congrats to Jeff.  Welcome to the dark side, and say goodbye to Powerbelts.

Around the Outdoor Blogosphere

Posted By: Arthur on February 29, 2008 in Opinion, Ramblings - Comments: 2 Comments »

I haven’t done this in forever, but with the number of good articles I’ve been seeing around I figured I should spotlight some here on our site. So here we go with the Outdoor blog rundown of good stuff to read:

Darrell has a great post on enjoying the outdoors and the differences in everyone’s opinion on what defines enjoying the outdoors. He brings up the point, that just because it isn’t your choice for enjoying the outdoors, doesn’t mean that it’s the wrong way. His message is a good one; Enjoy the outdoors-Your way, not mine.

Matt has a great post about one of his fishing buddies getting hooked in the ear. I thought it was a funny post considering I can relate to this gentleman’s predicament. I wrote a similar story about my experience of getting hooked. At least I was hooked by someone and didn’t do the hooking myself though. It’s a great read if you haven’t come across it yet.

Mike has a great post that is a tribute to his son. I thought this post was very cool and enjoyed reading it. All of you should head on over and read Mike’s post. He has some other great stuff on his site as well. Plus he’s from Michigan and us Michiganders have to stick together.

Jeff has a great post about his weekend activities that includes some incredible trail cam shots. He managed to capture some raccoon dominance as well as some birds in flight with his cam. I am totally envious that Jeff gets to have his camera out right now, so if any of you are envious as well, or even if you’re not, head on over and check out the pictures. They’re very cool!

In case some of you have missed it, Jody from The Hunter’s Wife, is going to be guest blogging over at the Deer Camp Blog this week. Jody is always funny so I’m sure with a new forum for her posts, and a site she’s not responsible for, that we will see some good stuff. I’m looking forward to that.

I could keep going forever, and it is always hard to single out posts from all of the good outdoor blogs that I read, but I think that this is a pretty good collection for all of you that read our site to check out. I will try and do this little feature more often. I would hate for everyone to miss the good writing that is available out there in the outdoor blogosphere.

Seriously, I don’t think I had found “hunting with mike” before, so I look forward to checking it out. Thanks for the recommendations!
