So many good things…will they ever get here?

cabinfever.jpgI hate this time of year.  Cold, dreary, snowy, chilly, bleak, and did I mention cold?

There are many things right now that are very positive in my life.  Our house projects are almost done, my new job is starting to come around, and it is making me feel good about a ton of things.  The problem is is that it is the time of year where everything is great, and right on the horizon, but it just won’t get here fast enough.

We planned on rabbit hunting last weekend until a -20 degree wind chill ruined everyone’s excitement.  I was up and around and then everyone started calling and cancelling.  What a bummer.

I dream about getting the trail camera back out, but the cold makes it go through batteries quicker than it takes you to blink.

We have an outdoor show coming up in a few weeks, as well as a local big buck night.  The problem with that is that they are coming up.  Why can’t they be here now?

My turkey hunting application is in, but of couse I have to wait to see what hunt I drew and then I have to also wait for the actual season to get here.  The waiting never stops I tell ya!

I think you get my point.  I love this time of year because of the anticipation, but I hate this time of year because it seems like everything has to get here.  I would like it all to be here; like yesterday!

The positive side.  It does look like we are going to get some warmer weather for the weekend so maybe I can get the guys out to rabbit hunt/shed hunt and I know that in no time the outdoor shows and turkey season will be here.  In the meantime I will be getting this house in shape so that I am allowed to get outside again when this slump finally breaks.  It’s a personal goal and one that will allow me to feel less guilty, because in a few weeks IT IS ON!  I’m sick of this cabin fever!

I was just thinking yesterday how winter always seems like the longest season.

In due time my friend…in due time. Maybe you can think of it as a sort of hibernation - even the animals go through it!

We all get impatient this time of year.

  4. I think everyone has cabin fever this time of year. I just try to relax and enjoy it as much as possible, but then I don’t mind winter as much as most people do.

  5. I know what you mean! I am not a huge fan of winter and I tend to get very antsy at about this time of year.

  6. Did somebody mention cabin fever? Let me tell you about cabin fever. I am sitting everyday in my den and check my fishing tackle for the thousands time. Then I clean by bows, rifles and shotguns even so they are shiny clean. At night I dream sitting in my boat on a crystal clear lake while the sun warms me nicely and the fish baiting like crazy. Each day I check the weather forecast only to hear that there will be more rain and cold, this goes on for four weeks now. I WANT TO GO FISHING and hopefully soon before I go insane.

Jeff and I have been complaining back and forth about the really crappy weather for weeks! When the weather starts to look like it will be good, it turns crappy and we get stuck inside. (or someone get’s sick!) I get Cabin Feaver really bad this time of year. I have to find things to keep me busy so I don’t go crazy!
I know what you are going through. Hang in there! Spring is not that far away!
