Life getting in the way!
Anyone ever ran into this before? Life getting in the way of going hunting? That is how I feel at the moment, but I know sometimes there are just “life” things you have to take care of that keep you out of the woods. Priorities, priorities. What comes first? Making sure there is enough money in your business account to cover a payment you have coming up or going hunting tonight? I think the answer is obvious.
I just hate that that is the way things go sometimes. Life does have to be prioritized though and taking care of the business stuff becomes more important for me then going hunting. Anyone who knows me can tell you that if it involves money, I’m pretty much going to be taking care of that first. That’s a fact and one I stick too. I would love to be in the woods tonight, but that just can’t happen.
There are positives that shall come from this though. One being I will actually get to spend some time with my wife. Another being it will allow me to save some more money every month by taking care of this tonight.
Since the whole night is ruined as far as hunting goes, I might as well knock everything out that needs to be done as well. Paying bills, washing hunting stuff, regular laundry, and house chores. You all know what I’m talking about. Those things that have been put off for so long because every chance you get you spend in the woods. The wife will appreciate me doing the dishes for once and maybe pitching in on the laundry and cleaning the house as well. I’m normally very good about those things, but not during this time of the year.
So tonight will be a night off of hunting and I can accept that. Then all of these things will be done so I can concentrate on hunting this weekend. Then one more week of work and it’s vacation time! Hopefully it gets here soon!

Preach on. Hunting takes up so many hours that something has to suffer. I haven’t picked up the camera or brewed in a couple of months which is unheard of for me. Can’t say as though I’m all that distraught over it.
It is a bummer that the boring stuff of life does get in the way. The good thing is that you seem to have a positive attitude about it. The other good thing is that taking care of this stuff tonight sounds like it will benefit you in the long run.
I’d say you made the right choice.

I know exactly how you feel. I had put away all the cash I needed for my trip to Maine early this year and so far I have spent half of it because of house, truck and other necessities I am struggling to make it up.
I am trying to schedule things that need to be done before my season starts and it seems like I have been going straight out and that includes doing side jobs to try and make up some cash.
I can’t wait for the season to start because i need a vacation soon before I lose my mind. So hang in there, you are not alone.
I too know how you feel. I didn’t get to hunt yesterday due to kids’ soccer games and a family gathering but hope to have a green light for a least three good hunts this week.

Things were so much simpler when I was single.
Years ago I worked in a factory from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. 3 and 4 nights per week. My buddy worked the opposite end of the week.
Some nights he’d call me at work and say “Wanna go Coon hunting?” BAM, I was out the door. I knew it would affect my income, but heck, it was Coon hunting and at the time, I loved to hear hound music.
Fast forward 15 years. No I have a Wife and Daughter. I don’t Coon hunt any longer. In fact, I’m lucky if I get to go fishing a few days a year and hunt Deer a few days.
This year, my Wife planned a trip at the last minute with her family on the tail end of my Black Powder week. Guess who had to cut his week off to come home and babysit?
What’s up with that? Yep, Family and Money have ruined more than one good hunt for me since I’ve been married!
