I am interested in the CCW permit, but I haven't decided if I want to do it or not. I would be interested in how it changes your rights with respect to transporting or carrying a weapon. The gun laws here in Ohio are fairly supportive as they are and I don't want to further restrict my rights. When I turned 21 I went through through the process of acquiring my CPL. I went out and did this because it was my right as Michigan citizen to be able to. Let's face it, the more people that have them the harder it is to take away and it shows that more guns in society does not lead to more crime. Now do I carry for defense? You better believe it. Do I think I'll ever use it? No, but it is better to have a gun and not need it than it is to need a gun and not have it. Excellent post on a very important topic.

I know someone who went through the process to get his CCW, and it wasn't all that difficult to do. As you say, it does take a bit of time and money, but the end result is worth it.
