I know , I know….I agree. I probably shoulda relaxed a little bit before writing the post. I am biased too towards the dog!!!

I dunno man. It seems as though you’re personifying the dog a bit here. Animals are not guaranteed rights like humans are (the Constitution). If we start to increase their rights through legislation then we may be headed down a slippery slope since that is exactly what many animal “protection” groups are after.

I understand where you’re coming from. I have never understood how someone can hurt an innocent animal, or an innocent child. Yet people do it all the time.

Somethings are just incomprehensible.

I know what you are saying. It is a hard one to call. I admitted being biased from the start because I am such a dog person. It just really ticks me off to think that someone would do that.

I love dogs as well. We’ve always had Labs in my family, and they were always loyal dogs who wouldn’t hesitate to put themselves between us and danger.

That said, I’m not sure whether I agree with you about the punishment not being suitable. You pretty much only have misdemeanors and felonies. You can’t really call it attempted homicide or manslaughter. So what would be the appropriate punishment? And does this just go for dogs, or does it extend to any pet?

I guess this is a difficult one to call.
