Trail Cam Fun

Info

cam.JPGMy brother bought a new trail cam about a week ago and we’ve had it set up in a little honey hole that leads to a nice huge bean field.  We’re newbies to the trail cam stuff, but thought we set it up in a pretty decent spot and low and behold we actually got some pictures off of it.  Jeff had to search around town to get the cable that was missing from it for about 2 hours but in the end it ended up being worth it.

doecam.JPGIt caught this doe coming down the trail.  She’s a bit on the small end but I thought it was a pretty cool shot.  Now this camera is not an expensive one.  Just so all of you know.  We just wanted to get an idea of what was on the new property we can hunt this  year and so far it has shown a couple good things.  This was my fav shot that we got.

deerback.JPGThe second picture was taken at night but I lightened it up a bit so that you can actually tell there is some rack there.  Woohoo…our first trail cam buck!  Not quite like shooting your first buck but we’ll take it.  Hard to tell but I don’t think he’s a big guy.  That’s okay though.  The cam did its job.

Now the cam has been moved to a slightly different location and hopefully we get some more pictures in this next week to show  to all of ya.  Loving this trail cam stuff!!

  • I’ve heard a lot of people say that they set up their trail cams very inexpensively and got great information and pictures from them. Sometimes I think it’s more about knowing where to put the camera than it is about the cost of the equipment you use.

  • I think you are probably right. Although we probably could get a little better picture with something more than a .megapixel shot!!!! Hehe.

  • Nice pics! Unless you’re going to try to publish your pictures in a magazine, functionality is all that really matters. As you stated, your goal was to see what’s there, and your camera is doing just that!

BTW, thanks for your kind comments on my site. I added you to my blogroll, and I will look forward to your future posts.

  • Cool pictures! Trail cams are a lot of fun; all part of the joyous process leading up to opening day.

  • Congrats on the pics!!! Keep em coming. Also, think about getting a couple SD cards you can swap out onsite instead of having to hook a cable to the camera and your computer.
